A Tiebreaker is a event at Tribal Council which is needed to break a tie when two or more castaways are tied for receiving the most votes.

About

A tiebreaker is a situation that occurs when more than one castaway has the highest number of votes. There are different ways to break a tie, usually starting with a revote and continuing with other methods until the tie is broken.

Rules

Proved in previous seasons of Survivor ORG, a revote will commence once a tie occurs (unless it is a Final Tribal Council tie, in which case there will be an extra juror). Prior to the revote, castaways are allowed some time to converse and sway each other's votes. During the revote, only the castaways who are not affiliated with the tie are eligible to vote, and they may only vote for someone who is affiliated with the tie.

If a non-voting castaway's self-vote causes a tie, the tied castaways may or may not vote. In Survivor: Switzerland and Survivor: Côte d’Ivoire the tied castaways voted, while in Survivor: Nepal and Survivor: Turkey the tied castaways did not vote.

Elimination of Non-Voter

In Survivor: Laos, if a tie occurred between someone who voted and someone who did not vote, the non-voter would be eliminated. This rule was removed when the Self-Vote Rule was introduced in Survivor: Hawaii.

Revote

A revote occurs almost every time the votes are tied at a regular Tribal Council. The list below indicates each time a revote has happened throughout this ORG and what the outcome has been. Usually someone is eliminated by the revote, but if the revote is deadlocked, the a tiebreaker challenge or rock draw occurs.

Fire-Making Challenge

A fire-making challenge on Survivor ORG is very different from one of Survivor, but they both have the same outcome. The castaways still in deadlock must compete in a challenge (usually an online game), and the one who has the highest score or time wins, while the other is eliminated. Purple Rock

The Purple Rock tiebreaker is another way of resolving a deadlocked tie. The tied contestants are safe, as well as anyone who has individual immunity or has played a Hidden Immunity Idol. Everyone else must pick a rock out of a bag and let luck decide their fate. There is one purple rock in the bag, and all other rocks are yellow. Castaways who draw a yellow rock are safe, while the castaway who pulls the purple rock is eliminated.

In Survivor: Korea only, the tied contestants would not have been safe if rocks were drawn. However, no rock drawings occurred in this season.
